Ann Richards, MC, RCC (Qualifying)

Hi, I’m Ann (she/her), a therapist and coach working with a variety of individuals and groups. Through compassion and collaboration, I can guide your exploration of what’s really been going on.

Whether you have a clear goal in mind or a sense that something just isn’t right, I’m here to walk alongside you in a way that is consistently down-to-earth, non-judgmental, and respectful.

A bit about me

I completed my Masters Degree in Counselling Psychology and I am working as a therapist under the supervision of Dr. Christopher Brown, RCC.

My therapeutic style is authentic, interactive, and collaborative. I believe that having someone in your corner to help you unpack what’s going on, and from there build strategies for moving forward, can be incredibly helpful. I’m interested in the relationships you have with others and with yourself. By connecting with your personal strengths and rediscovering inner resources that may feel lost, we can create space to expand in the ways life is asking you to.

My background as a professional visual artist informs the authentic and creative ways I show up in this work. Therapy is adaptable and we can make room for expression, including art like drawing, poetry, and of course laughter.

As a retired professional athlete, I am intimately familiar with high performance environments and the pressures they bring. Learning to deal with stress and anxiety can open up and alleviate energy to be redirected back into what matters, expanding the capacity for ambitious work.

Who I often work with

I work with adults and mature adults in person in Vancouver and virtually across BC and Saskatchewan. I have experience working with neurodivergent individuals (ASD, ADHD); as well as working with folks experiencing Dementia.

I primarily offer services for folks seeking support in Trauma and nervous system regulation. I offer support navigating stress and anxiety, life transitions, high performance, hypervigilance, artist and creative block, guilt and shame, depression, relationship dynamics.

I ask that you show up as yourself, there is no need to have it all figured out before you arrive.

Working with me

In my practice, I aim to celebrate the uniqueness of each person and welcome however you show up. We will build on strengths and identify personal values; helping to reconnect with inner resources to support change and resilience. I believe there is no perfect way to do this, so I will meet you where you are and we can explore what is asking for change.

Each day has its variations and the same with therapy sessions; we might explore uncomfortable emotions, challenge perspectives, relax, bring awareness to patterns, laugh, cry, celebrate the wins, and experience felt support.

Therapeutic work is most effective when there is a felt sense of alliance, so I welcome you to reach out. I offer a no-cost consultation call to see if we might be the right fit.

Rates and billing

I offer in person sessions in Vancouver BC, and virtually across BC and Saskatchewan.

Associates offer a session rate of $160 CAD for 50-minute appointments. All new folks seeking services are encouraged to reach out for a no-cost 20 minute virtual consultation. At that time we can get a sense of how we might work together and can go from there. I welcome any questions, ideas, and concerns during consultation.

After sessions I provide a receipt to be submitted to your insurance provider for reimbursement, depending on your plan. Please note that we don’t offer direct billing at this time. I would encourage having a look at extended benefits to know what might be covered. Payment is due at the end of each session in full with credit card or e-transfer.
