Jordan Beatty

Hello, I’m Jordan Beatty, an associate with Vancouver Therapy Collective. I have completed a Masters of Counselling Psychology (MC) degree from City University of Seattle and am currently in the process of qualifying to become a registered clinical counsellor (RCC). My philosophy aligns with a Rogerian Person-Centered approach and the belief that each individual possesses the internal strength necessary to conquer their greatest battles.

My counselling approach focuses on understanding core maladaptive lessons learned in early life which have developed into harmful schemata. I help clients untangle the web of their earliest wounds, ending repeating cycles, and creating a brighter and fuller future. I offer sessions in English and Mandarin.

A bit about me

I started my career working with youth and children 10 years ago. I coached young athletes at the highest level, aiding them with their psychological battles as much as their physical ones. Since this time, I have continued my work as a youth outreach worker, working with at-risk youth in the lower mainland. Their stories of a broken system lead me down this path in hopes of being one cog in the system that would not break and provide aid to those who requested it.

During my time as a non-profit worker with Purpose Society, I have accumulated hours working with individuals diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder, high risk of self harm, suicidality, and aggressive behaviours using the Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT) and Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT) models.

My community work

I headed multiple fundraiser efforts, rallying many individuals to help raise over $10,000 for various organizations including: Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA), Aga Khan Foundation, and BC Children’s Hospital.

What are my theoretical orientations/specialized training?

This is a fantastic question! My orientation is different for each individual person who comes in the door. No two clients are the same and therefore no two treatment plans should ever overlap. I mold my training and theoretical orientations to fit what you need and what suits you best!

That being said, the main theoretical approaches that I work from include (but are not limited to): Schema therapy, dialectical behavioural therapy, emotion focused therapy, cognitive behavioural therapy, person-centered, and solution focused therapy. I have been trained in each approach and am in the process of incorporating many others into my process.

Who I work with

I work with everyone and anyone who is in need of a counsellor. I have a specific concentration on working with youth and young adults while also having considerable experience working with individuals in the following avenues:

  • Life Transitions: Transitions can be incredibly stressful and exhausting. I work with clients to aid them in finding the path which leads them to feel fulfilled and accomplished. Only through inner reflection can we find the peace our heart needs in times of transition.

  • Relationship Issues: I work with individuals and couples who are experiencing marital or relationship issues. Tension, anger, and lack of intimacy can all be worked out in a safe and comfortable environment, leading the relationship down a new avenue to grow stronger than before.

  • Mental Health Concerns: I have experience working with individuals who are struggling with anxiety, depression, mental fatigue, borderline personality disorder, obsessive compulsive disorder, and other mental health concerns.

  • Daily Life Struggles: Therapy is often visited only when major events occur in life. However, I encourage anyone who is experiencing difficulties in their day to day life such as lack of motivation, financial, or any other everyday issue to come into counseling.

Working with me

Whether this is your first time looking for counselling or you’re coming in with previous counselling experience, I strive to create a unique experience which no other counsellor can offer. No two people come into counselling for the same reason and therefore each session and experience is purely dependent upon what you need from counselling. Whether you need an open ear, advice, or a safe place, I do my best to provide you with a positive experience.

I work from the core fundamental believe that you have the ability to reach your goals and find your definition of success. There are many barriers which may be placed in the way and it is my hope to work with you in identifying and removing these barriers. Therapy is a means to channel your inner strength and grow beyond what was previously thought possible. Book a 20 minute consultation now to experience it for yourself.

Rates and billing

My rates reflect my specialized training and experience I bring to our sessions. I offer sessions at a rate of $160 per 50 minutes. Sliding scale, couples, or sessions booked for 90 minutes may cause the set rate to change. I offer a free 20 minute consultation via phone or video call to build a connection and ensure a strong therapeutic relationship going forward. Sliding scale is determined on a case by case basis. Rates for sliding scale start at $110 an hour.

Following each session, I provide an invoice which can be submitted directly to your extended healthcare provider for reimbursement. I do not offer direct billing at this time. I recommend contacting your extended healthcare provider to confirm your coverage beforehand.

Payment is due at the time of each session and can be securely processed via credit card or e-transfer.
